Nigerian Army Starts 2018 Promotion Examinations For Lieutenants
Some 173 male and female Army Officers have today started the process of gaining promotion from their present rank of lieutenants to the rank of Captain.
This was disclosed by the Examination President of the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Adeku Salihu, who presided over the flagging-off of the 2018 practical promotion examination exercise at the headquarters of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to Maj. Gen. Salihu, the exercise will last for a week and will test the candidates on skills ranging from tactics and low conflict; map reading; radio communication; skill-at-arms proficiency to the French language.
The Army’s Examination President disclosed that each candidate must obtain at least 50% in each course and a minimum of 60% overall to be considered fit for promotion.
Maj. Gen. Salihu told journalists present: “The candidates will be tested on their competence level, professional and intellectual ability in the discharge of their duties.
“Candidates will be tested on tactics and low conflict; map reading; radio communication; skill-at-arms proficiency test; driving and maintenance; administration in field and French language.
“The test is intended to prepare candidates to attain the senior staff course and ascertain their improvement, knowledge and standard to military profession.
“The exercise will be used to assess candidates’ knowledge in command and tactical employment of a mechanised infantry company in all stages of war.”
