Driver Lands An Court Over Alleged Theft Of 4 International Passports, 200 Dollars

The Police on Tuesday arraigned two men,  Sulaimon Sogbesan, 48;  and Akeem Sogbesan, 40, in an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for alleged threat to life.

The accused, whose addresses were not given, are being tried on a three-count charge of threat to life, breach of peace and conspiracy.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Abdulkareem Mustapha, told the court that the accused with others now at large, allegedly committed the offences in 2015 at about 10.00 a.m at Ajegunle, Atan, Ota.

Mustapha alleged that the accused conspired among themselves to cause a breach of the peace and threatened one Thomas Soho with dangerous weapons when he made an attempt to enter his landed property.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 86, 429(d) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Mathew Akinyemi, granted each of the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Akinyemi further ordered the sureties to show evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government as part of the bail conditions.

The magistrate adjourned the case till Oct. 4 for hearing.
