2019 AFCON: Super Eagles cannot win the trophy in Egypt – Taribo west

Former Super Eagles Centre back, Taribo West has said the current Nigerian squad can’t win the African Nations Cup (AFCON) billed to hold in Egypt.

The form Inter Milan Milan defender, who said he will not put his money on the Super Eagles winning the title Egypt i an interview with Punc0 ,insisted that based on his assessment of some of the countries going to the tournament, it would be difficult to place his bet on the Eagles claiming a fourth African title in Egypt.

Gernt Rohr’s men will face debutants Madagascar, Burundi and Guinea in Group B of the tournament with the opening game coming up against Burundi in Alexandria on June 22.

Taribo who said the competition will witness a lot of shocks noted that it’s going to be a difficult.

“When it comes to the group stage, I see Nigeria qualifying with ease, the country has a good team but I can’t vouch for them winning the Africa Cup of Nations.

“It’s possible to win the Nations Cup but there are no more minnows in football. Countries like Madagascar, Tanzania, and Burundi will always want to prove a point because if you watch their qualifying series, you will see that you have to up your game to beat any team,” the former Auxerre defender said.

Nigeria Vs Senegal Friendly Match Tomorrow, Super Eagle Adopts A 3-5-2 Formation

Super Eagle would be playing a friendly match against Senegal tomorrow, 16th June 2019

Nigeria Vs Senegal will be coming up tomorrow by 6:45 pm at Stade Léopold Sédar stadium in Senegal. The Super Eagle will adopt the use of 3-5-2 formation in the friendly match, NIGERIA NEWS reports.

The last Saturday’s friendly match against Zimbabwe ends up goalless at the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba, Delta state. The formation used for the last friendly match is 4-4-2.

The same formation was adopted in the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON 2019 qualifier that came up against Bafana Bafana of South in Johannesburg. The match ended up the draw of 1-1.

The super eagles will be playing the first match of the AFCON 2019 against Burundi on 22nd June. The match would be played at Alexandria Stadium in Egypt.
