As the report of the alleged rift between Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Amdode and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu continues, the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, September 12, said the national leader of the party, is in charge of choosing the Lagos state governorship aspirants of the party in the 2019 general elections.
NIGERIA NEWS notes that the ruling party made the assertion over the alleged rift between Tinubu and the incumbent governor of the state, Akinwunmi Ambode.
The report has it that Ambode has relocated to his home base in Epe where he is weighing his options in the face of chorused mobilisation by the political base of the party to stop him.
Alhaji Babatunde Balogun who is the chairman of the Lagos state chapter of the APC, said that the party and its mainstream were still waiting on the former Lagos state governor for direction in the face of what he said were three options.
Stating the three choices, Balogun cited Akinwunmi Ambode, Babajide Sanwoolu, who is the choice of Tinubu’s Mandate Group and Femi Hamzat, a loyalist of the state’s immediate past governor, Babatunde Fashola.
Meanwhile, in an earlier report, NIGERIA NEWS had reported that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu maintained that he could not ask other gubernatorial aspirants under APC to step down for Ambode ahead of Lagos primary.
