President Muhammadu Buhari has promised the British Governmentment and the entire world that he would ensure that the 2019 General election is carried out to meet the world expectation of free and fair elections.
This promised was made by Buhari to the United Kindom Prime Minister, Theresa May, who visited Nigeria yesterday, Wednesday 29th August 2019.
According to reports, May’s visitation to Nigeria was directed towards enhancement of bilateral trade between the UK and Nigeria.
As gathered by NIGERIA NEWS, Buhari made the promise via s statement made by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina.
According to the statement, “I assure you that I’m all out for free, fair and credible elections. I’m very pleased that my party is doing very well.”
“The High Commissioner will brief you more. The recent successes in polls in Katsina, Bauchi, and Kogi states have boosted our morale greatly.”
“Nigeria has accepted multi-party democracy and that is putting politicians on their toes, forcing them to work harder.”
The President further commended the British government for its support to Nigeria in the war which his administration has launched against corrupt citizens of the country.
Buhari emphasised that his government would not relent in the fight against corruption as he noted that the fight is very germane to ordinary citizens of Nigeria.
The visit by May ended with both countries signing a pact on security and economic development.
