Former Senate President, David Mark Begs Delegates For Votes Ahead Of National Convention

Former president of the Nigerian Senate and presidential aspirant under Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator David Mark, has issued a strong warning to the party against imposing candidates during party congresses.

Mark who cautioned against the imposition of candidates by the party leadership during the PDP primaries between now and October clamoured for hitch-free congresses as party faithful elect delegates for the 2019 polls.

NIGERIA NEWS gathered that Senator Mark advised party faithful in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, September 7, to conduct themselves peacefully according to the rules of the game, stressing that the will of the people must be allowed to prevail.

The Benue lawmaker urged the party stakeholders to demonstrate true democratic process during and after the party congresses.

On his presidential ambition, Mark said he is the best candidate who can bring the change Nigerian s are clamouring for.

He added: “As we converge to elect delegates to the congresses beginning from Saturday, we must be guided by democratic tenets and observe the principle of fairness and justice.

“We must demonstrate to fellow country men and women that we are truly democratic. I am sure that our members nationwide will showcase our reformed and rebranded Party as the preferred choice for the people.”
The presidential aspirant reiterated why he joined the presidential race saying; “I believe I can make a positive difference in Nigeria.”

According to him: “nobody can shy away from the fact that Nigeria is currently faced with intractable security, economic and socio-political challenges that unarguably threatens the corporality of the country.

“Rarely has our country been faced with such a state of uncertainty, despair, suspicion and division. Time has come for all men and women who care and have the requisite experiences and courage to stand up, retrieve it from the brink and lead our nation into prosperity.”

The lawmaker expressed optimism that his road map to economic recovery and prosperity tagged 730 model will turn around the economy of the nation within two years of his administration if elected President.

He said he has assembled a team of young Nigerian Professionals to hit the ground running and facilitate the economic recovery.

Education, he said, would be given top priority as the bedrock for development, adding “we will focus on Education and create a pool of highly trained citizens with excellent IT skills who will be employable as well as create jobs.”

“We will support Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) as a matter of priority with interest free cooperative loans and appropriate technology, which will be the main driver of the economy with attendant rate of huge employment opportunities.”

Meanwhile, in an earlier report, NIGERIA NEWS had reported that Senate President Bukola Saraki expressed confidence to emerge PDP presidential candidate in 2019 election.

Jimi Agbaje

Former Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jimi Agbaje has told former Deputy National Chairman, Bode George to shut up and leave the party if he has no value to add.

There has been disagreement between George and Agbaje over the outcome of the governorship election in Lagos that returned Babajide Sanwo-olu elected as both have been blaming each other for the failure of the party to win the state.

Recently, the duo are at each other’s throat over defection insinuations, which both have denied.

Agbaje had accused George of insinuating his defection from the PDP, when he was described as a failed governorship candidate.

Speaking on the clash, media aide to Agbaje, Felix Oboagwina, denied reports that his principal had dumped the opposition party and also accused the leadership of the party in Lagos of alleged plans to “give the dog a bad name and chase it away from the party.”

On the social media posts that Agbaje had left the PDP to join the All Progressives Congress, APC, Oboagwina said they were untrue.

“There is nothing like that, nothing like that at all. He is still in PDP; he has not defected. How can people say he has defected on social media? He is too big for that; he is in PDP.”

When asked if there were plans by his principal to dump the PDP for APC, he answered in the negative.

“People should please tell Bode George to shut up and leave PDP if he lacks any value to add to the party, instead of being a dog in the manger hampering the progress of the party in Lagos State.

“He should tell the world where he got the news being spread around.

Atiku Abubakar Is Not A Threat To Democracy But Believes In The Rule Of Law - Paul Ibe

The Presidential Candidate for the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the last Nigeria Presidential Election, Atiku Abubakar recently states that he saw a signal to be arrested, NIGERIA NEWS reports.

However, Atiku media spokesperson, Paul Ibe states this on Sunday.

Besides, the accusation of Atiku about the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC conduct of the election, he is tagged to be a threat to the current administration.

His Spokesperson is quoted saying, “I wish to emphatically state that such a statement did not emanate from Atiku Abubakar or his privies.

“It is the work of mischief makers who want to mar his spotless pro-democratic record and lay the groundwork for their threatened actions against him on false charges of being a threat to national security.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Atiku Abubakar believes in the rule of law and in the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In his almost four decades in politics, he has never taken action or spoken words against democracy and will not start now.

“Atiku Abubakar and his team have confidence in God and thus call on those bent on mischief to have the fear of God and retrace their steps.

Ibe then finally stated that:

“Democracy has come to stay in Nigeria. The culture of fear being created now cannot rein in our democracy. Nigeria and Nigerians have a consistent history of outlasting tyranny and will continue to do so by the grace of God.”
