2019: Sokoto APC Endorses President Buhari’s Reelection

With about three weeks to the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC), members of the Sokoto state chapter of the ruling party have endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for re-election in the 2019 general elections.

NIGERIA NEWS gathers that the members also unanimously adopted the indirect primary.

On the other hand, the report has it that a vote of confidence was also passed on the chairman of Northern Senators Forum, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, and affirmed him as its only leader in the state.

The ruling party held a routine stakeholders’ meeting in Sokoto on Tuesday, September 4, where the decisions and other decisions were reached.

The meeting, which was presided over by the state deputy governor, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, was attended by the executives of the party at the state and local government levels as well as other key stakeholders of the party.

Aliyu, speaking with the journalists after the meeting said: “The meeting also expressed happiness with the exemplary and unparalleled way and manner Senator Wamakko is manning the affairs of the great party.

”Accordingly, we endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the forthcoming polls.

“We have unanimously adopted indirect primary election and consensus as the process to select candidates for all positions in the state.”

Some of those in attendance were the seven incumbent House of Representatives members of the party and the twelve members of the state House of Assembly.

In a related development, NIGERIA NEWS had reported that Ibikunle Amosun joined Ogun senatorial race ahead of 2019 general elections.
