A Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday sentenced three men: Hafeezu Kalad, Sidi Hassan, and Bilah Ali, to six months imprisonment each for causing grievous hurt.
Kalad, Hassan and Ali, had pleaded guilty to a count charge of causing grievous hurt and begged for leniency.
The judge, Abdulwahab Mohammed, however, gave the convicts an option of N20, 000 fine each, and warned them to desist from committing crime.
The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, had told the court that one Ibrahim Ahmed, reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on May 15.
He said that the convicts and four others at large acted in a violent manner without provocation and attacked the complainant with a cutlass on the said date.
He said that the complainant sustained injuries on the head and as a result was admitted at Kubwa General Hospital.
Olanipekun said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 247 of the Penal Code.
