So, there are strong reasons why Godswill Akpabio would like to change from PDP to APC and in this article there would be at least 5 reasons why he would change direction. This will listed as follows;
- He is allegedly being blackmailed
Godswill Akpabio, according to a reliable source says he is being blackmailed. It stated that the former Governor has been told to deliver Akwa-ibom state to APC or face the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
- He has fallen out with Udom Emmanuel
After attending a meeting with current vice president Osinbajo and Senator Ita Enang, fellow Akwa Ibom lawmaker which lasted about one hour thirty minutes. It is said that he is planning to leave the ruling party after falling out with current Akwa-Ibom governor, Udom Emmanuel.
- Multiple cases with the EFCC
One major reason he wants to leave PDP for APC is because he has been facing the EFCC in recent times which may suggest he is been blackmailed by his own party.
- Lack of Patriotism
It as been reported that he did not have enough support, love, and defense from his party (PDP), and he was assured he was going to get that in APC. There was no form of selfish interest from him as he felt that PDP didn’t show much love.
- Hoping to settle disputes with Udom Emmanuel in 2019
The Peoples Democratic Party are suspecting that the major reason he is defecting is as a result of him hoping to settle scores in 2019.
