Nigerianews NG has made it out to draw a criticisable list of seven underrated artistes in Nigeria. below are their names in no particular order:
No one would dispute the great work CDQ is doing in the music industry. The lord of woss woss wobi has struggled to make it to the major stage of music, but it is not an easy task for the lad to compete with the likes of Olamide and reminisce to make it big in the Yoruba/street rap.
The boy has not disappointed his fans with his recent hits like werey yo and bye bye poverty. His collabos with masterkraft have really ignited the spark that the boy possesses the talent enough to make him an international superstar.
CDQ has a very potent talent that could take him to places. After making wave with his freestyle gig which he titled wandanmiwo, many believed CDQ would be hitting waves around the continent. The talent still has a long a way to go to surpass his gurus, and Nigerians really need to give him headway.
Ladipo Eso popular known as Ladipoe on stage is a rapper with a unique storytelling style. some music enthusiasts tag his music as afrobeat, while many others deem it a blend of afrobeat with rap, dancehall and a little bit of hip-hop. Let’s call it “Afro-rap”.
Poe started his music career in the united states. He was a member of a small North Carolina music group called “LEQ”. He ventured into the Nigerian music scene a few years back and has made a remarkable impression so far.
He had collaborations with musical giants like Falz, Yemi Alade, Show Dem Camp, Nyanya, and most recently Tiwa savage with the hit song “Are You”. He is currently signed to the mavins records.
He is unappreciated so far for the talent he imbibes and the unique style he possesses. It is safe to conclude that he is one of the most underrated talents in the Nigerian music industry.
Adeboye Shedrack Folarin popularly known as Shaydee on stage is a young, multi-talented musician with vocals as good as the nightingale. His brief stay with the EME boys dashed out raving hits like his debut single “Won gbo mi” and “High” which was nominated for best vocals at the headies award.
He had a celebrated feature in Seyi Shay’s hit track Murda where he lent his vocals alongside Patoranking. Shaydee is an excellent songwriter and has been said to have written countless songs for numerous top-notch artistes in the Nigerian music scene.
However so much for his gift and talent, he is underrated, underappreciated and has a very long way to go in becoming a major act in the industry. Many have attributed this to different factors, but the most interesting is his withdrawal from the Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) after a minor tantrum with the label’s management.
Aboriomoh Femi Raymond known on stage as Dremo is one of Davido’s signings to the HKN gang. Opening the stage with his tribute “Fela” dedicated to the musical Taliban, Dremo has so far proven himself as an exceptional artiste.
His style true to his roots is a unique blend of afrobeat and Afropop with a touch of urban rave. With exceptional features and collaboration, Dremo has shown us that he is capable of becoming a major act in the music scene.
He is however unlike his fellow signee, Mayorkun in the HKN gang very much underrated and underappreciated. he still has a lot of drilling and tasks to do to impress the rating spirits of the Nigerian music industry.
Small Doctor is another exceptional lad with great talent. In our previous post Small Doctor fell amongst the list of most watch out for Nigerian artistes for 2018, and he is indeed worth it.
He has managed to change the dimension of the industry. Penalty, as we’ve said in our previous post, is arguably one of the biggest raves of 2017 with its touch of street and comic mix.
The artiste is nonetheless poorly rated in the industry. His talent is yet to be appreciated as it should be and as it deserves.
Simi, a Nigerian Afro-Pop Singer/Songwriter is currently signed to X3M Music. Simi has impressed fans with numerous hit songs including– Tiff, Jamb Question, Love Don’t Care, Smile For Me.
She also has a remarkable collaboration with top talented artistes in the industry. some these collaborations include ‘Soldier’, with Falz, ‘No Forget’, with Adekunle Gold, ‘Orire’, with Legendury Beatz to mention a few.
‘Simisola’, her album which was released in the latter part of 2017 hit the Billboard World Music charts at number 5 and remarkably maintained number 1 on Apple Music and iTunes chart for quite some time.
Even with all the talent and heat emanating from the stables of this young lady, the Nigerian music industry has given her little to no worthful rating as she deserves in the industry. she remains one of the few underrated artistes in Nigeria.
Shasha Damilola Alesh best called Dice Ailes is one of chocolate city’s finest and popular for his collaborative hit with Lil kesh titled “Miracle”.
The fine young lad is well-talented with his style being a blend of pop, Afro-pop, and afro hip-hop. The talent has quite a number of hits to his credit including Otedola, Machinery, Ella, telephone, and Mr Biggs.
In spite all these hit singles from his stables, Dice Aisles is still amongst the major underrated talents in the industry.
