Gunmen Kidnap Assitant Commissioner Of Police, Family Members For N30m Ransom
A gang of gunmen that have been terrorising the Birnin-Gwari Funtua Road, Kaduna State, have kidnapped an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adeniyi, along with of his family members while travelling.

The ACP, Mr Adeniyi, is the police Officer-in-Charge of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Zamfara State Police Department.
Adeniyi, as reported by PUNCH Metro, was travelling back to Zamfara from Kaduna State with his family members on Wednesday when the gunmen flagged down their Toyota Hilux for the kidnapping operation.
The gunmen were reported to have dragged them out of the vehicle and conveyed them away in another vehicle.
The identities of the family members that were abducted along with the ACP are yet to be confirmed by the police.
Correspondents of PUNCH Metro on Thursday gathered that the kidnappers had communicated with other relatives of the ACP, from whom they placed a demand of N30m as a ransom for their release.
Apart from the kidnapping of the ACP and his family, the police also learnt that another police officer and three others on a bus has also been abducted on the road.
Information was gathered that several police units, among which are the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Unit and Anti-Kidnapping unit, had been deployed to rescue the abducted victims.
A source reported to PUNCH Metro that the Toyota Hilux in which the ACP and his family members were travelling had been recovered by the police, adding that the kidnappers were criminals dislodged from Niger State.
“The ACP was returning to his duty post in Gusau, Zamfara State, on Wednesday with his family members when the gunmen struck along the Birnin-Gwari-Funtua Road and whisked them away. He is the OC, SCIID of the state police command. Only the vehicle has been recovered.
“Another police officer was abducted with three others while travelling in a bus to Birnin Gwari on Wednesday. A police patrol team got information that some travellers on the bus had been abducted, they chased the kidnappers, but I do not know whether the victims have been rescued or not.
Elsewhere, a source in Birnin-Gwarri village said that a well-known businessman in the area, Danhaza by name, was also kidnapped with his driver three days earlier while travelling to Kaduna from Birnin-Gwari.
The source said that both men were travelling in a Golf car along Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna Road when they were intercepted by the gunmen who led them into the bush nearby.
