Ahead of UCL Final, Liverpool, Tottenham ask Sponsors to Return Tickets

Published

on

Ahead of the UEFA Champion League final tie between Liverpool Football Club (LFC) and her domestic rival Tottenham Hotspur, the fans of both clubs have called on sponsors of the most inarguable prestigious league to return some of the tickets allocated to them so as to enable fans of the clubs get more tickets in this year’s final holding in Madrid.

Both Liverpool and Tottenham have been allocated 16,613 tickets apiece for the final, which is far less the demand placed by the club’s supporters on their respective club. This mean if their request is not granted there will be whole lot of fans willing to see the match live at Madrid not having access to the Stadium.

With 22,300 tickets being given to Local organizing committee, UEFA and national associations, commercial partners and others, the Liverpool group, Spirit of Shankly and the North London side fans, Tottenham Hotspur Support Group Trust have call on sponsors to gift away part of their tickets to the fans who are on the verge of missing out on the final.

In a joint plea made by both supporters club, the SOS and THFA they said:’Spirit of Shankly and Tottenham Hotspur supporters’ Trust – the independent official fan groups of LFC and THFC – are calling on the main sponsors of the UEFA Champions League to return a proportion of the tickets they have received for the Champions League final to the pot for supporters of both clubs,’
‘We ask Nissan, Playstation, Gazprom, PepsiCo, Banco Santander, Mastercard, Heineken and Expedia Group to help redress the balance in the current unfair allocation that means fans of both competing clubs receive less than 25 per cent of available tickets.

‘As major sponsors of the UEFA Champions League, your companies appreciate the passion and dedication of the fans who follow their teams and make every game a spectacle.
‘But many of those fans who have followed their club throughout this season will miss out on the biggest game of all. As will thousands more loyal supporters.

‘SOS and THST believe such a gesture by the sponsors would help lift the occasion by increasing the number of passionate fans inside the stadium, and increase each brand’s standing on a global scale.
‘We also ask that each sponsor lobbies UEFA to allocate tickets for future finals on a fairer, more equitable spilt that has supporters benefit.’ they concluded.
The all English final is billed to hold on, 1st of June.

The rule that would be implemented under this is that there would be no chance given to any players to waste time on the pitch anymore, as substituted players would have to leave the pitch at the closest side of the pitch and card may probably be awarded for wasting time.

PENALTY KICKS

The Goalkeepers would, therefore, have to have a foot put on the line and would not be allowed to touch the goal posts before the shoot out of the penalty kicks. In this manner, no Goalkeeper would be able to exploit any chance to avert an opportunity to lead.

COACHES CARDS

The coach would also have to be carded by the Referee in a similar as players were being carded during a match. Both yellow and red cards would also be applicable to coaches as well as starting from next season.

HANDBALLS

  • The goal would be denied if the ball actually strikes any player’s hand during the development to have a goal.
  • If any player should make any favourable moves in handling the ball outside the penalty kickbox, even if it regarded unintentional, freekicks would be awarded.
  • The IFAB dispose of ‘manufactured’ restarts if there be any drop balls.

The IFAB make it clear that:

“The current dropped ball procedure often leads to a ‘manufactured’ restart which is ‘exploited’ unfairly or an aggressive confrontation.

“Returning the ball to the team that last played it restores what was ‘lost’ when play was stopped, except in the penalty area where it is simpler to return the ball to the goalkeeper.

“To prevent that team gaining an unfair advantage, all players of both teams, except the player receiving the ball, must be at least 4m (4.5 yds) away.”
