LASG Scales Up Coding Centers To 275 Schools

The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, as parts of efforts to ensure the training of one million residents to code through the CodeLagos initiative, has scaled up its coding centres from 193 schools N 2017 to 275 for the new term including 10 public centres.

This was made known by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Obafela Bank-Olemoh in a statement on Wednesday.

According to him, the Ambode administration is committed to the vision of the CodeLagos programme which is also aimed at making the state, a technology frontier in Africa through skills empowerment  needed to create and take advantage of the opportunities a tech-driven economy proffers.

He further announced the opening of the registration portal for the 3rd batch of the Out-of-School programme for interested members of the public from Wednesday, April 25.

He said, “We are excited to announce that the programme is expanding. We have scaled up the numbers of our coding centres, from 193 schools last year to 275 this term; and we have plans to keep scaling up. Out of the 275 schools, 130 of those are Government schools while 145 are private schools.”

“We have already trained over 250 facilitators to deliver the Coding Framework to students in these schools. As a State, we are doing this so that more students can benefit from this free training.”

“As we speak, Coding classes for the 2nd Batch of the CodeLagos Out-of-School programme are ongoing, with over 500 students learning in four different centres namely Herbert Macaulay Library, Yaba; Isolo Public Library, Isolo, Ilupeju Public Library, Ilupeju and the Onikan Youth centre, Onikan, Lagos Island.”

“For the next cycle, we have added six new centres to widen the reach of the programme and accommodate more lagosians who want to learn to code. The new centres include; Ikeja Secretariat Library, Ikeja GRA.; Ipaja Public Library, Akowonjo; and Meiran Public Library, Meiran. Other centres are the e-Read Africa Learning Centre, Surulere and the Methodist Primary School, Ikorodu.”

Bank-Olemoh further stated that residents within these environments can now have access to free coding classes. He also called on interested candidates to register by visiting the CodeLagos website.

According to him, the programme is slated to run for six weeks and will expose trainees to courses in Java and Python programming languages as well as HTML and CSS for Web development.

In the same vein, the governor’s aide also stated that coding classes have also commenced in primary and secondary schools since the 23rd of April. He added that the in-school programme will hold in both Government and Private schools in the Six Educational Districts in the State.

The CodeLagos Out-of-School programme is Governor Ambode’s initiative open to Lagos residents who are 16 years and older, and not enrolled in any primary and secondary school in the state.

KWASU JAMB Cut Off Mark For 2019/2020 Admission

This post is for all those who applied for admission into KWASU and has been searching for KWASU Cut Off Mark to check if the score they had in JAMB can qualify them for admission into Kwara State University for this session (2019/2020).

All KWASU Aspirants are hereby informed that the general cut-off Mark for admission into the University is 180. This means that all those who wrote JAMB And Scored up to 180 or a minimum of 180 are eligible to buy KWASU Post-Utme or Admission form and also sit for the Examination should there be.

All those who scored less than 180 (179,170,175,160,169, etc) are to note that the Kwara State University will not accept them for admission.
This eligibility for buying KWASU Screening form with a minimum JAMB Score of 180 and Above also includes the following courses unless otherwise stated by the management.

Medicine
Pharmacy
Engineering
Law
Others
N/B: The Department or courses mentioned above are a rough list, the school in question may not be accredited or may not be offering one of these courses mentioned above.

KWASU Departmental Cut Off Mark
