APC calls for emergency meeting over Oshiomhole’s removal

Oshiomhole

Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have demanded an urgent meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling party over the call for the remover of its National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

It could be recalled that the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the APC, Senator Lawal Shuaibu made the call for Oshiomhole’s removal.

The member under the aegis of a forum, Non-National Working Committee (Non-NWC) in a letter signed by their Chairman, Alhaji Nasiru Danu and the Secretary, Hon. Omolayo O. Akintola, said the meeting had become necessary to discuss emerging issues before they get out of hand.

Despite calls by some stakeholders of the party asking the NWC to convene a NEC meeting to resolve issues surrounding the last general elections and also forge a common front ahead of the composition of the next cabinet by President Muhammadu Buhari, there has not been meeting held and dust is yet to settle on the matter.

The national officers in a leaked letter dated 29th May, 2019 and titled: “Demand for an urgent interface with NWC organ of our party-APC” and addressed to the National Chairman said the meeting is necessary to address critical issues affecting the ruling party before such issues go out of hands which could be inimical to the general welfare of the party

Noting that the meeting could have been called for earlier, the forum said it considered the concluded 2019 general elections as a determinant to the party’s survival which had come and gone with successes and losses.

“This body rose from her today‘s (29-05-2019) emergency meeting shortly after the Presidential inauguration ceremony held at the Eagle Square, Abuja and concluded the following request be made.

“We hereby request for a meeting to be fixed from your end as soon as possible in order to meet with the urgency it demands,” part of the letter reads.

9th NASS: You Are Untrustworthy for Selling Out, Wike Slams Most PDP Lawmakers

Published

Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has slammed most of the Senators and House of Representatives members elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over their roles in the emergence of presiding officers in the 9th National Assembly inaugurated on Tuesday.

Wike who stated that most of them, betrayed the party and are unworthy of trust, accused them of selling out on the positions of the party during the heated exercise.

Nigerianews reported that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the opposition party had early Tuesday morning, endorsed Ali Ndume for the Senate presidency and Umar Bago for the House of Reps Speaker’s seat.

Despite allegedly mobilising NWC members to push through the endorsements despite the initial reluctance of the party to do so, a source revealed that the PDP supported Ike Ekeremadu for deputy senate presidency.

Despite the endorsements, Senator Ahmed Lawan won with 79 votes to Ndume’s 28, with PDP boasting of not less than 46 senators.

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege emerged deputy senate president with 68 votes to Ekeremadu’s 37.

Former Majority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila emerged speaker of the House of Representatives, after scoring 281 votes to knock out Bago with 76, with PDP members in the Lower Chamber being over 140, fuelling speculations most of them ignored directives of the party.

Speaking on the disloyalty of the PDP NASS members on Friday, Wike said they sold “out themselves for one plate of porridge.’’

While hosting visiting Bishops of the Anglican Province of the Niger Delta at the Government House, Port Harcourt, Wike said he rather trust only God who, he noted, never changes.

He said: “I don’t trust any human being. It is difficult for me to give 100 percent trust that a man will continue to be like this or like that.

‘’The only person that cannot change is God. For human beings, they can always change. That is why they are human beings.

‘’You can trust a human being but be careful to open your eyes, because anything can happen.”

Rochas Okorocha Commends INEC For Issuing Him Certificate Of Return

Rochas Okorocha, former Imo state governor, has warned incumbent governor, Emeka Ihedioha not to again harass his wife and children.

The former governor, who in a statement on Friday signed by his media aide told the governor takes charge as the governor of the State and halt the incessant harassment and abuse of his wife and children by his senior appointees and their foot soldiers.

Okorocha wjo alleged that thugs believed to be working for the secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Onyeaguocha invaded a mechanic workshop around the Orji flyover and took away a vehicle undergoing repair and owned by his daughter, Uloma Nwosu.

He added that despite sending her staff with the particulars of the vehicle they took away, to show that the vehicle does not belong to the State Government and to show that she bought the vehicle long time ago, they threatened to beat her and detain her and never cared to look at the particulars of the vehicle.

“If Ihedioha’s government wanted anything from any of the former governor’s children or wife they could do so through the Police or DSS in the State. Invading their houses or impounding their private vehicles even from the mechanics for any reason, is barbaric and should be frowned at.”

While urging the governor not to create an ugly history or set a very bad precedence as the first governor of the State who took delight in harassing the children and wife of the man he succeeded as governor, Okorocha reminded Ihedioha that former governor Ikedi Ohakim never harassed or abused the children and wife of Achike Udenwa he succeeded as governor. Owelle Rochas Okorocha for one day, never harassed or abused the wife and children of Chief Ohakim who he succeeded also as governor. Ihedioha should follow those examples.

“His appointees have been harassing and castigating the children and wife of the former governor even at public functions and in the media. This is not good for the Office of governor. They can criticize or malign Rochas Okorocha on any issue which they have been doing, but to begin to harass the children and wife, is unacceptable to us and indeed, to all decent men and women in the society.”
