The Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sanni has advised the President to vacate the Position of Minister of Petroleum and appoint a Successor to handle the Oil Industry.
Sanni asserted that the current tension in the Oil Industry can only be doused if a new minister is appointed as President Buhari has little time to spend in the Sector.
Recent developments had witnessed a petition to Buhari by The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, reporting alleged acts of insubordination and humiliation by the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Maikanti Baru.
Sani added that “President Buhari should disengage from being the Petroleum Minister and appoint a substantive minister whom the nation can hold accountable to the happenings in the nation’s oil industry.
“The President position as a minister can drag him into issues in the oil sector of which he has limited time to attend to “. “A broom immersed in oil cannot sweep clean”.
