Black Thursday In Benue As 26 Herdsmen Victims Of Omusu Attack Would Be Buried Today
No fewer than 26 people who lost their lives in the horrendous attack by suspected herdsmen in Omusu village, Okpokwu local government area of Benue state would be laid to rest in the state today, Thursday, March 15.
Francis Ogwuche, the Okpokwu local government area chairman disclosed this to the general public, adding that a catholic mass would be held for the deceased.
According to Francis: “A requiem mass would be held for the victims at the Saint Bernard Catholic Church, Ugwu Okpoga on Thursday March 15, 2018.
He also siad after the mass, bodies of the victims would be released to the various families for the final rite.
“Thereafter the corpses will be released to the various families for burial in their respective communities especially those of the married women according to customs and traditions of the people.”
The Chairman and people of Omusu commiserated with the residents of the community and assured them that the state government would intensify efforts to bring the perpetrators of the horrible attack to book.
Francis further praised the Benue state governor Samuel Ortom, for ensuring that a peaceful burial would be held for the victims; and for tighten the security measures in the volatile area.
