Battles Of The Old and Young: The Presidential Aspirants For 2019.
The rhythm humming on every Nigerians lip is the song for a new Nigeria. A song chanting hopes and prayers for positive leadership, economic development, social tranquility and youth development.
A song calling on well-meaning Nigerians to take up the mantle of leadership and steer the affairs of the nation to prosperity. The song that birthed the #nottooyoungtorun bill, and gave the young an opportunity.
It is no longer news that the elections of 2019 would be a replay of the war between Kronos, the lord of the Titans, and Zeus, his son, and the leader of the gods. It would be the battle of ages; the young and the old.
Nigerianews NG has taken to the political street once again as they did in their previous post on Kwara gubernatorial aspirants to draw out a list of viable aspirants out to vie for the apex office of the federation.
Whether it would b a great battle like the battle of bastards in the game of thrones, Nigerianews NG knows not. It is, however, a known fact that the youths are the great determinant of the 2019 election. Whoever would emerge in the opinion of Nigerianews NG shall be someone with youths interest at heart.
Below is the list of viable candidates in no particular order;
The incumbent president has not said anything specific with regards to running for a second term in 2019. However, going by course of events in the past few months, great possibility lie that the former head of state cum president would be recontesting in 2019.
The progressive governors’ forum which comprises of all APC governors has thrown their massive weight behind president Buhari by endorsing him for a reelection. It is however no longer news, that the 2019 election shall be a battle for popularity between Buhari and other northern leaders aspiring for the same office.
It is a normal drama on the part of Atiku Abubakar to always switch sides before an election year. Many Nigerians have tagged him a ‘party prostitute’, and many have dogmatically stated that he cannot win the 2019 race.
The former vice president has made it known to all Nigerians that he wishes to mount the seat of presidency. While many youths have opined that Buhari has failed the youths, Arewa youths have thrown their solid weight behind the Adamawa born with the hope that he is the messiah of the Nigerian situation.
Popularly known as the street governor. Governor Ayodele Fayose has declared his unalloyed intention to run for presidency come 2019.
The People Democratic Party (PDP) has however made quite a lot of noise over zoning the candidacy of the party to the north, which may turn out to be a disfavor for the Ekiti state governor.
Fayose is hell-bent however on competing to the end of the PDP ticket. His posters are already pasted around the streets of Abuja.
The immediate past chairman of the PDP caretaker committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi is being pressured from all angles to vie for the apex office of the federation.
The former Governor Kaduna state is respected and admired among the Northern youths. He is regarded as one of best governors Kaduna state ever had. Many still call him the savior of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for his dogmatic approach in opposing Ali Modu Sheriff whom many believed would have buried the party.
Nigerinews NG does not know whether the former Senator stands a chance against the earlier mentioned aspirants, but it is our opinion that he remains a viable aspirant.
The Ondo state Prince is an enthusiastic technocrat who hopes to win the support of youths in Nigeria to take the mantle of leadership at the apex office of the federation.
He is a consultant on global investment and has worked with numerous corporate organizations at home and abroad. he has also published over 1,500 articles on the economy and global investment.
He was lauded by the former governor of Ondo state for a beautiful economic reinvigoration proposal which he drafted for the state government with the hope that its implementation would steer Ondo state to great heights. He hopes to be the flag bearer of the political party Alliance for Democracy (AD).
DR. ADESINA FAGBENRO-BRYON
The former regional coordinator of the Department for International Development has declared his interest in running for the presidency in the oncoming elections of 2019.
He hopes to bring his international exposure home and use it to steer Nigeria towards the status she deserves on the global map.
He promises to provide good governance and restructure the socio-economic and political institutions to create an equal access and equal opportunity society for all Nigerian.
Fela Durotoye has symboled himself as a motivation to many youths in Nigeria hoping to transform their terrain with positive leadership. He is no longer a stranger to the youth community as he is a friend to them all.
Fela Durotoye championed the ‘Mushin Makeover Project’ which was tagged the largest non-governmental project in Africa. Fela Durotoye has a penchant for transformational leadership and hopes to use his little experience in leadership, and leadership education to transform Nigeria into the new Nigeria the people are chanting.
He hopes to emerge as the presidential flagbearer of Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN).
Omoyele Sowore is not a new name on the news or internet blogs. He is often attributed to wild criticisms of the legislative competence of Senator Dino Melaye, and many other public office holders.
Popular for his radical stance against bad governance and corruption, and his strong criticism on government policy, Omoyele Sowore has decided to venture into politics by contesting for the highest office of the nation.
