A security expert, Kingsley Udegbunam, says the sit at home being proposed by IPOB members cannot stand for different reasons especially for Igbos both home and abroad, as there several reasons such order cannot be effective anywhere in Nigeria.
Udegbunam lectures at Nsukka, UNN, a senior lecturer, says the major reason why IPOB sit at home plead will not succeed is because the Federal Government of Nigeria has since proscribed the “terror group”
While addressing journalist in his home state Nsukka, Udegbunam said that IPOB’s is no longer popular as it is used to due to that fact that its leader, Nwankwo Kanu has since disappeared into thin air
The senior lecturer also added that there is a wide difference and sentiment by the different groups by ideology and what each group stands for.
IPOB and other pro-Biafra groups like the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, and the Biafra Independence Movement, BIM, as reasons the planned sit-at-home will fail.
Though Udegbuanam disagrees with the federal government that the IPOB is a terrorist organisation
Udegbunam said, “It is plausible for me to argue that it will hold but the level of success might not be like the last one.
“In fact, I foresee a situation where the majority of Easterners will ignore the sit-at-home order because of the waning influence of IPOB.
“Again, Biafra Independence Movement has come to challenge the sit at home order. So, there is a crack in the ranks of Biafra agitators, that is IPOB, MASSOB and BIM.”
