Since the conclusion of the Big Brother Naija show tagged ‘Double Wahala’ in 2018, Fans all over the country have been waiting for the return of 2019 edition of the show.
Finally, the organisers of the biggest reality television show in Nigeria (Multichchoice Nigeria) last Saturday announced a date for this year edition if Big Brother Naija show tagged ‘Forget Wahala’. According to Multichoice Nigeria, the 2019 edition will kick-off in June.
The organisers also added that this fourth season promises to be even bigger than previous editions.
”As the new season draws near, fans and viewers can get ready for the excitement and entertainment this season will bring as they enjoy three months of battle for the ultimate prize,” the organisers said in a statement on Saturday.
Just last month, MultiChoice Nigeria treated fans to an exclusive reunion show and special pop-up channel on DStv and GOtv.
The BBNaija pop-up featured highlights from the previous two seasons – ‘See GoBBe’ and ‘Double Wahala’ and a special reunion show which featured the stars of the BBNaija Double Wahala season.
Although the third season might be over, the reunion show had fans reminiscing and supporting their favourite housemate for the last time on the show.

BBNaija No Wahala: Why the 2019 reality shows was delayed to this point
But why has it taken this long for the organizers to begin one of the most popular shows in Nigeria?
Previous editions of the show started around February. This year edition, called “No Wahala”, will be the 4th series of the Popular Reality Show.
Why was it delayed?
This is 2019 and the beginning of this year is marred by election activities. Election in Nigeria is always a sensitive issue.
According to a source in Payporte, a former sponsor of the show, he said:
“Big Brother will still hold but because it’s a political year, we can’t really control to what extent what the housemates will say in the house and we don’t want it to become a tool that will heat up the polity,”
“The show itself normally gets twisted so we don’t want to mix it up with politics in any way. Its supposed to be entertaining, we wouldn’t want it to be divisive in any way. So after the elections and inaugurations, it’ll happen.”
This is an important factor to consider as the Organizers of the show are planning a new BBN House in Nigeria.
Challenges encountered during auditions
This year BBNaija auditions has shown that this year’s show will be very competitive. The massive turn out of prospective contestants has made it very difficult for the judges to pick final housemates.
One of the contestants, @Tweetoracle, who witnessed the crowd at the audition tweeted:
“Just imagine only two Potential House Mates to be picked from every BBNaija Audition venue. How do you sift 2 from 10,000? I don’t envy the judges, they got the thankless job of sorting and sitting thru the crazies of many a Nigerian youth.”
The selection process of final housemates is also a major factor for the delay.
After a long battle, Bet9ja ousted Payporte as key sponsor of the show. This is also another reason for the delay.
