As a newbie in blogging, you must have heard it mentioned several times that content is king. If you haven’t, then know it for sure that content is king.
There is no substitute for quality content. As a matter of fact, content is what you are selling to potential visitors to your new website.
Think of your content as items in a new shop that customers come in to buy. If you want to outshine other businesses and attract customers, the stuff on your shelf must be as good as your competitors’ and if possible even better.
But even at that, it would still a while for customers to make your store their first choice because of their loyalty to others who were there before you.
Your job, primarily, is to get as many new, unaffiliated customers as possible. That is why it is important to stock up your shop with quality goods.
The quality content in your blog (you must have lots of them by the way) would not take you to Google front page immediately though. They would only ensure you begin to attract a new crop of loyal followers.
The strategy is to build your own core, loyal visitors. Along the line, you would definitely attract visitors who are also loyal to the old guard.
You should consider that as the icing on your traffic cake. The real deal, as far as traffic is concerned, are the new ones that are not already loyal to the established blogs.
So with you quality content on your blog, this is how you go about getting the needed traffic. Remember, as we stated earlier, it requires time and patience and consistency.
Writing a guest post means posting your written piece on a different website especially one that is related to your niche. This is a necessary sacrifice if you want to grow as a blogger.
Some of the most successful bloggers today did it several times.
There are no hard and fast rules about how many times you have to write a guest post. You just have to keep doing it until you reach a point where the benefits are no longer coming in.
One or two guest posts per month for five months should be enough initially. Subsequently, yoou can scle it down to just a post per month until you become really established.
There are some rules to writing guest posts though:
- What you write must qualify as one of the best pieces you have written
- Guest post only on sites in your niche
- Guest post only on sites that have huge traffic
- Make sure the sites you chose allow you to include a link back to your site. Some sites add a little author bio at the end of the piece with a link to your blog at the end of the piece.
- Avoid the temptation to guest blog on just any site simply because it is easy to do it.
All the above points are important.
Unfortunately, some authority sites demand money before you can get in.
Pay up if you can afford it and you think it is worth it or keep searching. You would surely find blogs or sites that accept guest posts without having to pay for it first.
As a new blogger trying to build up your reputation, you would have to spend a lot of time reading what other blogs in your niche are writing.
Don’t waste time with the low-quality blogs with unimpressive traffic. Stick to the quality sites with huge numbers.
Read their articles. Understand the issue and drop informed and educated comments.
You can also answer the questions posed by others in the comment section. Make sure your answers are helpful.
Now, if the sites allow it, drop your blog link for others to see. They would surely click on it to see what you are all about.
There is no guarantee that all those who click would get hooked to your website. But you would definitely get some clicks. And many would get hooked if you have a quality blog with awesome content waiting for them. See why quality content is important?
Another good thing about consistency in posting comments is that you might attract the attention of the owners of these sites. Some of them could reach out to you to write a guest post for them.
Take advantage of the opportunity with both hands.
Some may even go a step further by giving you a regular paid writing gig on their site if they are impressed with the quality of your posts.
