The leader of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau has appeared in a new viral video in which he was reading the group’s ideology and the Nigerian national pledge, which he denounced as shirk.

Shirk in Islam means associating a partner with God which is deemed one of the greatest sins in the religion.

Shekau was seen reeling out the 35-minute speech robed in flowing white apparels whilst clutching an AK47 rifle.

According to a journalist, Ahmad Salkida, who first published the news about Shekau’s latest video,  he may “have impaired eyesight as he struggled to read his group’s ideology in Arabic.”

“The embattled leader of Jama’atu Ahlil-Sunnah Lid-Da’awati Wal-Jihad, otherwise known as Boko Haram appeared in a video robed in flowing white apparels whilst clutching an AK47 rifle as he read a prepared speech in Arabic about the doctrines of Boko Haram.

“The factional leader of Boko Haram that have been weakened by an internal feud that led to the emergence of another faction in 2016 and persistent military campaign by the appeared to have impaired eyesight as he struggled to read his group’s ideology in Arabic, while intermittently reciting Nigeria’s National pledge in English, which he repeatedly said was an act of Shirk,” he wrote on his Twitter handle.

He further explained that the 35-minute long speech in Arabic, according to analyst may be targeted to the international jihadi community, and not the local audience in the Lake Chad region because the terrorists group have been made a pariah terror group, following feuds between Shekau and several warlords that gainsaid his more extreme ideology, especially the use of women and children as suicide bombers in Muslim places of worship, Internally Displaced Person camps and markets.

“As a female born to parents who both belong to the legal profession, I loudly celebrated the rise of Justice Asabe Karatu as the first female Chief Justice of Kebbi state. More so, I attended the university with her daughter. Now, I totally condemn her selfish attempt to hang on to position instead of retiring honourably.

Zainab who pointed that her allegations have brought about undeserved insults and criticism one her husband, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and others, noted that sadly, that is one of the burdens of leadership.

“It is worrisome that as a Nation, we allow religion to quickly divide us rather than use reason to search for reasons to avoid conflict.

“The statement below will not clear every mind, but it is necessary to set the records straight and we owe it to our children to always do what is right. Most of all, We should ALWAYS try to be bigger than our personal ambition. ”
