The Federal High Court, Lagos has ordered the Police to release Mr. Okwuchukwu Obiechina, the brother-in-law of alleged kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, alias Evans immediately without conditions.
The presiding Judge, Justice Mohammed Idris just gave this judgement against the Nigeria Police Force in response to the fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by Mr. Okwuchukwu Obiechina.
The Judge declared the detention and arrest as unconditional stating that the remand order gotten from the magistrate is invalid.
The court, therefore, ordered the police to release him immediately stating that if the Police have a case against him they should charge him to court.
Justice Idris also ordered the Police to tender a public apology to Obiechina in two National dailies and also awarded N2m damages in Obiechina’s favour against the police.
