The popular musician known as Naira Marley has been arrested by the The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The hip hop artiste who is popular for his hit song “It’s a goal” is currently been questioned at the Economic and Financial Crime Commission’s office in Lagos.
Even though the reasons behind his arrest has not been made public, we are aware of the possibility of its connection with his recent statements on social media claiming that internet fraudsters are the reason why money circulate to the common man and therefore, they deserve the prayers of Nigerians.
A top source at the agency confirmed his arrest when the EFCC spokesman could not be reached at the early hours of Friday.
However coincidental, Naira Marley had just released the official video of his hit track, ‘Am I A Yahoo Boy’ featuring Zlatan, on the previous day
Afeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, took to Instagram live session to urge Nigerians to pray for internet fraudsters (Yahoo boys) because according to him, they are the reason for the circulation of money to the poor.
“All you guys, all the money in your pockets, all the money you spend, you think it’s the government that is making the money go round?”
Consequently, the video stirred a lot of controversies among Nigerians. Some said that he was a shame, a bad example to the young ones and a disgrace to the Nigerian youth while a few others supported him, maintaining that Yahoo boys were the life line of some Nigerians.
Kano governorship tribunal: Ganduje comes up with over 200 witnesses and 2000 page files for defence against Abba Kabir
The Governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, eventually issued his defense of five 1800-page volumes as well as moved to identify 203 witnesses who could announce to the public that on 23 March 2019 there was a democratic election.
This was revealed on Saturday by the lawyer of the Governor, Barrister Musa Abdullahi Lawan.
Lawan spoke in front of the State Elections Tribunal sitting on Milla road, Kano after lodging the Governor’s defense.
Barrister Lawan, who is among the Governor’s leading counsel, said the proposal from the PDP is in the first place pointless, but because it was lodged, they would then have to deal with failure.
“We brought in our processes in defense of the petition and we have done it with the time and we are very confidence of winning and right from the beginning we are saying PDP petition was unnecessary.” – Says Barrister Lawan
The attorney said that they are bringing in 203 potential witnesses and they’re going to be telling the tribunal that an election actually happened and that the request for the PDP was unfounded.
The prosecution for the Governor observed that the court case in the gubernatorial vote would start completely with the petition filing inside of 20-25 days.
He added that within the specified 21-day time, they lodged their petition stating that PDP drained their time before they submitted their petition.
“We are highly confidence of winning this case because the whole world admits that their was an elections and that Governor Ganduje actually wins the election,”
