The executive governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode has reportedly submitted his nomination form, to seek the second term in office.
NIGERIA NEWS notes that Ambode submitted the form on Wednesday in Abuja despite the alleged rifts between him and the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.
The governor who picked the APC nomination and expression of interests forms on Monday in Abuja is alleged to have lost his good standing with the political godfather, Tinubu, who has gone on to adopt another candidate, Jide Sanwo-Olu, thereby denying Ambode, a second term in office.
The aspirants, who were former commissioners in the state, Dr Obafemi Hamzat and Jide Sanwoolu, were said to have claimed to have Tinubu’s backing.
The incumbent governor, Ambode, was also said to have the backing of the APC national leader when he made his interest to seek reelection public on Monday. Thereafter, two other aspirants, Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat Obafemi have also picked their forms.
On the other hand, Lagos Peoples Democratic Party, have allegedly offered the party’s ticket to business mogul, Femi Otedola and it is reported that he has accepted to contest against Governor Ambode come 2019 election.
In an earlier report, NIGERIA NEWS had reported that Omokri said Femi Otedola would end Bola Tinubu’s dictatorship in Lagos.
