Champions League 2019/2020 possible draw in August

Liverpool will be in Pot 1 of the Champions League draw after winning the competition courtesy of a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

With Manchester City going to be in pot one as the English Champions, the draw could present some interesting matchups.

The current champion had already moved up to Pot 2 by virtue of their rise in UEFA’s club coefficient rankings ahead of the semi-finals, but triumph in Madrid has improved this.

As the next season’s draw holds in Monaco on August 29, Liverpool will join Europa League winners Chelsea and domestic champions Barcelona, Man City, Juventus, Bayern Munich, PSG and Zenit Saint-Petersburg in Pot 1—three of those title-winners defeated on the Reds’ road to the final.

Spurs already confirmed for Pot 2 alongside five other teams while another six sides have booked their places in Pots 3 and 4, and another 12 await the results of next season’s qualifiers to determine their seeding.

Here’s how the Champions League group stage draw will look.

Provisional Champions League Draw Pots

Pot 1: Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona, Man City, Juventus, Bayern Munich, PSG, Zenit St Petersburg

Pot 2: Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, FC Porto*, Tottenham, Borussia Dortmund, Napoli, Shakhtar Donetsk, Ajax*

Pot 3: Benfica**, Dynamo Kiev*, Lyon**, Bayer Leverkusen, Salzburg, Valencia, Inter Milan, Celtic*

Pot 4: FC Copenhagen*, Dinamo Zagreb*, Lokomotiv Moscow**, Genk**, Galatasaray**, RB Leipzig**, Atalanta, Lille

Liverpool could land in a group of death if it get drawn with the likes of Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Lille, for example, though their top seeding certainly improves their chances.

The first round of qualifiers begin on July 9/10, with Celtic the most high-profile club required to compete.

Zainab Bagudu

The first lady of Kebbi state, Zainab Bagudu has condemned the former acting Chief Justice of the state, Justice Asabe Saratu for not retiring from her position honourably.

Recall that her husband, governor Atiku Bagudu had sacked Saratu for complaining to the National Judicial Council (NJC) that her appointment was no confirmed by the state house of assembly because she is a Christian.

Zainab, who took to her Facebook page to react to this said although she celebrated her upliftment to the number one legal post in the state, but condemned what she termed her selfish attempt.

“As a female born to parents who both belong to the legal profession, I loudly celebrated the rise of Justice Asabe Karatu as the first female Chief Justice of Kebbi state. More so, I attended the university with her daughter. Now, I totally condemn her selfish attempt to hang on to position instead of retiring honourably.

Zainab who pointed that her allegations have brought about undeserved insults and criticism one her husband, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and others, noted that sadly, that is one of the burdens of leadership.

“It is worrisome that as a Nation, we allow religion to quickly divide us rather than use reason to search for reasons to avoid conflict.

“The statement below will not clear every mind, but it is necessary to set the records straight and we owe it to our children to always do what is right. Most of all, We should ALWAYS try to be bigger than our personal ambition. ”
