Giroud Confident He Will Score Against Barcelona At Camp Nou
Ahead of the Wednesday tie between Chelsea and Barcelona, Olivier Giroud says he will find the back of the net when his side faces the Spanish Club in the Champions League round of 16 second leg tie.
The England club will travel to the Nou Camp having secured a 1-1 draw in the first leg and have everything to play for when both teams go head-to-head on Wednesday, March, 14.
The Frenchman is confident in his own ability to deliver when it is expected of him as the crucial tie in Spain looms.
He said: “As a striker, sometimes you don’t look at the goal.
“You shoot and it’s going in but you need a bit of luck.
“It’s important to keep the confidence high and work for your team-mates so I tried to deliver some passes for Willian and Eden.
“I’m happy because we won and even if I didn’t score I’m sure I will in the next games.”
Giroud has just one goal to his credit since making the £18m switch from Arsenal in January transfer window.
The former Arsenal striker was unlucky to score against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge over the weekend, however, set up Willian for the opener and later struck the post.
The France international who made the starting line up in Antonio Conte’s side explained how he just missed out on his first league goal for the Stamford Bridge outfit.
“Sometimes the goal looks smaller in certain games and that was the fact for me.
“I kept going, kept believing I could score but I was a bit unlucky.
“The defender saved the ball off the line (pictured below), and after that I hit the post.
“After that, I just tried to play with my team-mates and the most important thing was that I felt good on the pitch,” he said.
Chelsea are now within four points of Liverpool in fourth place.
