Court Orders The Remand Of Teenage Girl Accused Of Murder In Lagos

An Ebute Meta Chief  Magistrates’ Court has today ordered that a 16-year-old girl should be remanded in custody over an allegation of the murder of a 27-year-old man in Lagos.

The girl who was arraigned today before the court was said to have committed the offence on the 7th of August at Cele Bus Stop, Ijanikin, on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

According to the prosecuting counsel, Chinalu Uwadione, the teenage girl whose name was not disclosed allegedly shot a man identified as Abraham Umaru in the head.

NIGERIA NEWS gathered that the prosecutor is charging the accused on a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder, offences which contravened the provisions of Sections 223 and 233 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The offences as disclosed by the prosecuting counsel to be punishable with death.

The court which was presided over by Mrs A. O. Adedayo, after listening to the not guilty plea entered into by the accused announced the rejection of the plea and ordered that she be remanded at the Special Correctional Centre for Girls, Idi-Araba, Mushin, Lagos.

The case was further adjourned till Sept. 5 after which the DPP’s advice would have been sought.
