Court Asks Senator Jang To Remain In Prison Custody Until It Rule On His Bail Application
Information reaching us at NIGERIA NEWS revealed that a Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos, on Wednesday has ordered that a former Governor of the state, Jonah Jang should be kept in prison until it rules on the bail application of the accused.
Recalled that NIGERIA NEWS had previously reported that the former governor has been charged with offences of corruption and misappropriation. Senator Jang Arraigns In Court Over Fraud Allegation
The directive was given by the court after the sitting Judge, Justice D.D Longji, listened to the arguments and submissions of both the prosecutor and the defence counsel.
As earlier reported, Senator Jang is being arraigned in court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 12- count charge relating to corruption and misappropriation. EFCC Accuses Former Plateau Gov, Jonah Jang Of Fraud
The former governor who is a serving senator representing the Plateau North Senatorial District is accused of mismanaging more than N6 billion, in less than two months to when his tenure as the governor of the state ended.
Jang has also been accused of embezzling over N4 billion from the state reserves through the help of a cashier identified as Yusuf Pam, in the office of the Secretary to the State Government.
