Crisis looms at the Ondo State House of Assembly as there are strong indications that some members of the House have perfected moves to impeach the Speaker of the house, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun.
It was gathered that 18 of the 26 members of the House have so far signed the impeachment notice.
Nigerian News Outfit, DAILY POST, gathered from a reliable source in the House, who spoke under anonymity, that the issue is causing serious acrimony in the hallowed chamber of the Legislative arm.
A member of the House, representing Owo constituency 2 and a close ally of the governor, Mukaila Musa is being accused of involvement in the impeachment process.
The lawmakers seek to impeach the present Speaker on grounds of Ineptitude and a paucity of legislative qualities to functions as the Speaker of the House.
Recall that Oleyelogun emerged as the speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly after some members successfully removed Jumoke Akindele over allegations of fraud and misconduct but who has since been cleared of any wrongdoing and continues to serve in the House.
It is rumoured that Akindele’s cohorts are the masterminders of the current impeachment notice.
Mukaila Musa, representing Owo constituency, confirmed the impeachment move but exonerated himself from the process.
He confirmed that though indeed there is an impeachment process going on but he is far away from the plot at all and that those who are pointing fingers at him of being involved are only “wicked oppositions in the assembly.”
He also described the rumours as baseless and confirmed that he had not signed the impeachment notice. He then called on those accusing him of having signed to provide evidence of his signature on the notice.
He said, “Though l was very instrumental to the first and second impeachment at the assembly. The first one was to checkmate the leadership of the House, while the second one was for the interest of the state and for my party not to be caged”.
“Whoever that must have cooked me up in this mess will soon be exposed by the grace of God, l know somebody from within did it, saying am a member of Peoples Democratic Party when am not”.
In related developments, an Influential member of the PDP in the House said that the former speaker, Akindele may go to court to fight for reinstatement as Speaker, having been cleared of any wrongdoing in the Assembly.
The group loyal to the speaker are accusing the other lawmakers of planning to impeach the Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
June 12: Tinubu, other opportunists begged for appointment from Abacha – Bode George
Bode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended Kola Abiola, the son of the late MKO Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the Jun 12 1993 election, who alleged that former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and other “June 12 opportunists.” approached former military dictator, Sani Abacha to beg for appointment after the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election.
Speaking with Punch in reaction to Kola’s allegations, George, a former military administrator, hailed Kola for stating the facts even as he lamented that many opportunists were seeking to twist history.
Kola said after Tinubu had lost out that he decided to join hands with the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) to fight for the actualisation of the June 12 mandate.
“It is true that Tinubu went to beg for a commissioner position. He was in the Villa and Gen. Oladipo Diya is a witness. He (Tinubu) said he wanted to be a deputy to a military administrator and when all that didn’t work, he went into his activism.”
The PDP chieftain, who lauded Kola for deciding to make a documentary of the June 12 saga said he must not be victimised for saying the truth since, as the first son of MKO, and an insider.
“Most of what Kola said is true. He spoke from the heart and he was trying to set the records straight in the face of the many narratives. He had been looking for who would help to recognise the June 12 saga so that his father wouldn’t have died in vain.
“In the course of this, he had bottled up so much. He went through a lot, having lost his mother and family businesses during the struggle. So, he was setting the records straight so that people would not rewrite history,” he said.
Speaking on the lesson learnt from the June 12 saga, George said the lessons must go beyond declaring a holiday or immortalising MKO.
“Now, June 12 has been adopted as a national holiday but have we learnt any serious lesson from it? Have we done anything to ensure that the mistakes of the past are not repeated?
“Yes, people are pontificating and trying to use it as a political tool but believe we have not learnt anything,” George said.
I don’t do other people’s wives, Fani-Kayode lambastes Bagudu’s wife
Former Aviation, Femi Fami-Kayode has lambasted wife of Kebbi state governor, Zainab Bagudu for saying all he ever wanted was attention.
This is in reaction to question asked by Fani-Kayode on the sack of acting Chief Justice of Kebbi, Asabe Karatu by the governor after reporting the state government to the National Judicial Commission (NJC) alleging that the Kebbi state National Assembly refused to confirm her appointment because she is a Christian.
The Kebbi first lady had responded to Fani-Kayode telling Twitter users not to mind the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as all he wanted was attention.
“Pls don’t bother answering Femi. That’s what he wants. Attention,” she tweeted.

Recall that governor had defended his action during the swearing in of a new acting Chief Justice of the state, Justice Mohammed Sulaiman, saying Karatu couldn’t be confirmed as the state substantive CJ because of some error on her birth certificate.
He added that he even pleaded with the members twice, which was rejected and the NJC was notified on the action taken.
