Defection: PDP Takes Bold Step To Welcome Saraki, 2 Governors

PDP Set To Welcome Saraki, Tambuwal, Ahmed In Wild celebration

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says all necessary actions in the preparation to welcome the defection of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, the governor of Sokoto and Kwara states, Aminu Tambuwal and Abdulfatah Ahmed, into its fold have been put in order.

NIGERIA NEWS notes that the opposition party will be receiving the three political bigwigs in a wild profile celebration.

Also, the party is said to have worked plans to secure its position of power to enable it to influence other top politicians to join the PDP.

The reception for the defectors is said to coincide with the defections from the APC by the two governors and some senior party officials being on the wings while the precise date for the defection of Saraki is still unclear.

According to a source within the PDP, Tambuwal defection would follow the report by a committee set up to decide the fate of his political machine in the party.

Also, it has been gathered that the APC was already perfecting strategies to sustain itself as a ruling party by fielding a high profile candidate.

“APC will field popular candidates and not leaders’ candidates, but candidates of the people because that is the way the party can win elections, grassroots candidates, and that is why the chairman is not worried,” a source in APC said.

In an earlier report, NIGERIA NEWS had reported that federal government set to fire Kwara APC members from office

Zainab Bagudu

The first lady of Kebbi state, Zainab Bagudu has condemned the former acting Chief Justice of the state, Justice Asabe Saratu for not retiring from her position honourably.

Recall that her husband, governor Atiku Bagudu had sacked Saratu for complaining to the National Judicial Council (NJC) that her appointment was no confirmed by the state house of assembly because she is a Christian.

Zainab, who took to her Facebook page to react to this said although she celebrated her upliftment to the number one legal post in the state, but condemned what she termed her selfish attempt.

“As a female born to parents who both belong to the legal profession, I loudly celebrated the rise of Justice Asabe Karatu as the first female Chief Justice of Kebbi state. More so, I attended the university with her daughter. Now, I totally condemn her selfish attempt to hang on to position instead of retiring honourably.

Zainab who pointed that her allegations have brought about undeserved insults and criticism one her husband, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and others, noted that sadly, that is one of the burdens of leadership.

“It is worrisome that as a Nation, we allow religion to quickly divide us rather than use reason to search for reasons to avoid conflict.

“The statement below will not clear every mind, but it is necessary to set the records straight and we owe it to our children to always do what is right. Most of all, We should ALWAYS try to be bigger than our personal ambition. ”
