The Chairman, Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory, and representative of Kogi West senatorial district Senator Dino Melaye, was reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen on 26, July 2019, while traveling to Kogi from Abuja. Another report said that armed men assaulted him in Gwagwalada while going to Lokoja toward the beginning of the today.
Worries about Mr. Melaye’s whereabouts were first raised by Ben Murray-Bruce, one of his fellow Senator.
Ben Murray Bruce who chairs the Senate Committee on Privatization said Melaye was abducted by gunmen that were unknown in a tweet.
He uncovered that Melaye’s brother made the disclosure to him as he was en route from Abuja to Kogi, his state. Bruce wrote;
“I have just been informed by Moses Melaye, @dino_melaye’s brother, that Dino has been abducted by unknown persons in a Toyota Sienna that blocked their car and overpowered them on their way to Kogi to answer to Dino’s court case. Let’s be on the watch out. Will keep you updated,” he tweeted via his Twitter handle @benmurraybruce.
The controversial Senator has since resurfaced. He has been connected to considerable measure of negative scenes of late. Senator Dino Melaye was arraigned before the Abuja High Court sitting in Apo by the police and was granted bail with N5 million.
Dino Melaye was summoned on a six-count charge of attempted suicide, escape from police and damage done to police property.
Melaye is among the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senators that as of late decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He wrote on his twitter handle, Dino Melaye;
I thank God once again for escaping another dangerous attack. I also thank Nigerians for their prayers and show of Love. Spent 11 hours in the wilderness traumatized but God preserved me. God is the best and in whom ONLY I trust. They will continue to try. WE SHALL OVERCOME!!!

June 12: Tinubu, other opportunists begged for appointment from Abacha – Bode George
Bode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended Kola Abiola, the son of the late MKO Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the Jun 12 1993 election, who alleged that former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and other “June 12 opportunists.” approached former military dictator, Sani Abacha to beg for appointment after the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election.
Speaking with Punch in reaction to Kola’s allegations, George, a former military administrator, hailed Kola for stating the facts even as he lamented that many opportunists were seeking to twist history.
Kola said after Tinubu had lost out that he decided to join hands with the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) to fight for the actualisation of the June 12 mandate.
“It is true that Tinubu went to beg for a commissioner position. He was in the Villa and Gen. Oladipo Diya is a witness. He (Tinubu) said he wanted to be a deputy to a military administrator and when all that didn’t work, he went into his activism.”
The PDP chieftain, who lauded Kola for deciding to make a documentary of the June 12 saga said he must not be victimised for saying the truth since, as the first son of MKO, and an insider.
“Most of what Kola said is true. He spoke from the heart and he was trying to set the records straight in the face of the many narratives. He had been looking for who would help to recognise the June 12 saga so that his father wouldn’t have died in vain.
“In the course of this, he had bottled up so much. He went through a lot, having lost his mother and family businesses during the struggle. So, he was setting the records straight so that people would not rewrite history,” he said.
Speaking on the lesson learnt from the June 12 saga, George said the lessons must go beyond declaring a holiday or immortalising MKO.
“Now, June 12 has been adopted as a national holiday but have we learnt any serious lesson from it? Have we done anything to ensure that the mistakes of the past are not repeated?
“Yes, people are pontificating and trying to use it as a political tool but believe we have not learnt anything,” George said.
I don’t do other people’s wives, Fani-Kayode lambastes Bagudu’s wife
Former Aviation, Femi Fami-Kayode has lambasted wife of Kebbi state governor, Zainab Bagudu for saying all he ever wanted was attention.
This is in reaction to question asked by Fani-Kayode on the sack of acting Chief Justice of Kebbi, Asabe Karatu by the governor after reporting the state government to the National Judicial Commission (NJC) alleging that the Kebbi state National Assembly refused to confirm her appointment because she is a Christian.
The Kebbi first lady had responded to Fani-Kayode telling Twitter users not to mind the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as all he wanted was attention.
“Pls don’t bother answering Femi. That’s what he wants. Attention,” she tweeted.

Recall that governor had defended his action during the swearing in of a new acting Chief Justice of the state, Justice Mohammed Sulaiman, saying Karatu couldn’t be confirmed as the state substantive CJ because of some error on her birth certificate.
He added that he even pleaded with the members twice, which was rejected and the NJC was notified on the action taken.
