Presidency Urges Super Eagles Not To Have Low Ambitions At The World Cup, To Target Winning The Trophy
Just a few days to the start of the 2018 FIFA World cup in Russia, the National team of Nigeria have got their presidential orders ahead of the Mundial.
Speaking the mind of President Muhammadu Buhari, the Special Adviser to the President, Femi Adesina has called on the Super Eagles of Nigeria to put in their all and to aim for bigger things at the tournament.
According to him, mere qualification from the Group stages of the competition is no longer enough so the Super Eagles should target winning the trophy as a whole.
However, he mentioned the Quarterfinal as a benchmark just as he called on other African countries to ensure to have a good outing at the World Cup.
Furthermore, the presidential aide noted that funds should not be a problem for the team as things would be put in place as at when due.
As gathered by NIGERIA NEWS, Femi Adesina said the following when he was speaking to Sportswriters in Abuja.
He said: “Nigeria should do well, do very well at the World Cup. You know our target used to be qualifying for the second round. Then at a time, the target of Africa was getting to the quarterfinal.
“I think we should be more ambitious this time, let’s go as far as we can get and if we can win, why not, but let us not have low ambition.
“Funds should not be a problem as long as everything is put in place timeously. Those who should make the request should make it in good time. If everything is done when it should be done, there should be no problem,” he told sportswriters.”
