Former President’s Son Gets 8 Months Jail Term Over Phone Theft
An Ex-President’s son has been remanded in jail for 8 months with hard labour.
NIGERIA NEWS gathered that Fredrick Chiluba Jr whose father use to be the President of Zambia stole a Samsung S7 Edge phone valued at $843.
He was tried by a magistrate Court in Zambia.
Reports reveal that when his father, Fredrick Chiluba was President, “from 1991 to 2001 he was dogged by corruption allegations, leading to his immunity from prosecution being lifted after he left office.”
“He was prosecuted for alleged embezzlement in 2002 but acquitted after a six-year trial.”
It was also gathered that “In 2007, he was convicted of fraud by a London court and ordered to repay $58m (£36m) in embezzled funds, but the ruling was never enforced in Zambia.”
