Facebook Dating Profile To Be Different From User’s Main Facebook Profile
Social media giant, Facebook, has disclosed intentions to integrate dating features in the social media application. This was made known by the CEO, Mark Zukerberg, during an F8 conference in San Jose, United States.
According to him, his Facebook favourite stories were from users who got married after meeting on the social media platform.
Zuckerberg explained that dating features would be integrated with unique features. He stated that the dating profile will be different from a user’s main Facebook profile adding that friends would be unable to see it.
He also reiterated that the dating features will be for long-term relationships and not “just hook-ups.”
He said, “This is going to be for building real, long-term relationships — not just hook-ups. There are 200 million people on Facebook that list themselves as single, so clearly there’s something to do here.”
Following the announcement of Facebook CEO, the stocks of Match — owners of Tinder, a major dating application — dropped.
However, Match in a statement stated that it would continue to increase its users experience through “productive innovation.”
“We’re surprised at the timing given the amount of personal and sensitive data that comes with this territory. Regardless, we’re going to continue to delight our users through product innovation and relentless focus on relationship success,” the statement read.
It was recently reported that Facebook had to pull down about 270 pages in response to the Cambridge Analytica saga.
