Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has played down rumours that the Federal Government of Nigeria has offered to pay Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) N100 billion to shun killing and kidnapping in the country.

The Acting Inspector General denounced this claim while speaking with newsmen shortly after a two hours closed-door meeting at the sentate in AbujaFollowing report in the social media, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) had frowned at an alleged plan by the Federal Government to appease MACBAN with N100 billion to set up cattle ranches for their livestock, describing the action as a constitutional crime.

Admau explained that the need for such agreement between the government and MACBAN is not paramount if kidnapping in the country is to be addressed.

He said that the social media report was the figment of somebody’s imagination framed up to distract attention.

He later said that such rumours was a figment of someone’s imagination framed up to distract the attention of the Nigerian people and the country’s security forces.

In his words: “There was nothing like that. That information you got was social media information. “It has nothing to do… there was no any discussion to that effect”.
