A Magistrates’ Court in Minna on Friday ordered that a 20-year-old farmer, Ibrahim Bello, be remanded in prison for alleged theft of a motorcycle.
Bello had pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of criminal trespass and theft.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Moses Emberga, had told the court that the accused criminally trespassed into the complainant’s compound and moved away his motorcycle away while in his room.
He said the complainant raised alarm and the accused was arrested on the spot with the motorcycle.
Emberga said the offence violated Sections 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.
The prosecutor, however, pleaded with the court to adjourn the case because investigation into the matter was still ongoing.
In her ruling, Magistrate Mariam Kings ordered that the accused be remanded in prison.
She adjourned the matter until Sept. 12 for further mention.
