An Abuja based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Anneozeng Ogozi Aid Foundation has on Friday given scholarship to 19 orphan pupils of the Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School, Mpape, in the FCT.

The Founder of the NGO, Anneozeng Ogozi, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, said that the pupils were randomly selected from different classes in the school and were all Orphans, NIGERIA NEWS reports.

Ogozi said that the scholarship idea was generated after the foundation had earlier distributed writing materials to all pupils in the school.

” We were moved to make such commitment after seeing the level of joy and dedication to study in these pupils.

” They were so excited to receive these note books, pen, rulers and mathematical  set from us.

” Some of these kids had a footwear on them and that’s really touching,” she said.

Ogozi said that scholarship certificates would be issued to the beneficiaries with their names on them on Monday.

” I have immediately contacted my team to make ready their certificates with their names on them for reference purposes.

“The certificate will show that their fees for this session have been covered by the foundation as we make the transfer payment to the school account.

” The photocopy of the scholarship certificate will be issued to the school Headmaster, while the original copy will be sent to the guidance of these pupils,”she said.

She said that the goal of the foundation was to ensure that every less privileged child had the right to quality education.

According to her, the foundation planned to renovate some of the classrooms as the learning environment was really not conducive for learning.

“We will not be able to take up the renovation process now because the NGO is still new but we look forward to making ten or fifteen desks and chairs because we saw most of the students sitting on the floor.

Motivational Speaker, Ilemona Yunusa, said that he was glad to speak to the pupils on the values associated with being educated.

He said that he was glad at the responses he got from the pupils as they expressed their career goals during the talk session.

Yunusa urged Nigerians to assist the less privileged no matter the cost.
