Leah Sharibu: We Are Still Negotiating With The Terrorist – Lai Mohammed
The federal government of Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the lone remaining adopted Dapchi schoolgirl Leah Sharibu is rescued from the hands of Boko Haram terrorists.
NIGERIA NEWS notes that the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed said that negotiation with the terrorist has been torturous.
Leah who clocked 15 on Monday, May 13, was kidnapped alongside other Dapchi girls but while the rest were rescued, she was kept by the terrorists for allegedly refusing to renounce her Christianity faith.
The mister said the government was working to see to her rescued in spite of the difficulty in the negotiation.
“I think Mr. President actually addressed that issue in Washington and my position is always the same that we are yet to resolve the issue of six girls. 111 girls were kidnapped, 105 were returned and we are busy on daily basis asking and negotiating and asking what happened to those five officially at least and then what is delaying the young girl Leah Sharibu.
“Negotiations with insurgents are quite tortuous and complicated a times but I can assure you we are not leaving her to her fate and those who should are daily busy working on her release.”
“Anybody who negotiates with insurgents and terrorists in the world will know that is not a direct face to face negotiation like we are doing,” he said.
Meanwhile, in a previous report, NIGERIA NEWS had reported that Nigerian senator speaks on Leah sharibu abduction, reveals when she would be released from the insurgent den.
