Nigerian Governor Gives In To Pay N65,000 Minimum Wage

Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe state has expressed his readiness to review and implement the N65000 minimum wage as soon as the proposed increase was concluded.

The report gathered that the governor gave this declaration at the Workers’ Day celebration which took place at the Pantami Stadium.

Dankwambo who was represented by his deputy, Charles Yau Iliya, said the state was ready to implement the minimum wage so as to promote productivity and for better welfare for workers.

“I have listened with keen interest to the speech of the Chairman of the NLC, all these are matters that government view with great importance. We shall, therefore, continue to work in partnership with the leadership of the NLC in resolution and implementation of these important issues in the best interest of the state, ” he said.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Gombe State Council urged the State Government to pay workers’ allowances in earnest.

“As a matter of necessity pay the balance of the 50 percent of leave allowances of local government employees and primary schools teachers in the state,” the state NLC said.

Reports reaching NIGERIA NEWS have already shown that General Ibrahim Babangida, the retired army and head of state, is alive contradictory to speculations about his death.

Vanguard claims that even an online content published the former president passed on Friday, May 17. In futherance, the content claimed that Babangida is hailing and heartfelt and always bubbling with life.

According to findings, NIGERIA NEWS gathered that an anonymous source told Vanguard correspondents that the retired army general broke today’s Ramadan fast together with friends and family. This he did at his Hilltop Mansion on Friday, May 17.
