Community Leader Killed By Gunmen In Plateau State
A community chief has been allegedly killed by a group of gunmen in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State on Sunday night.
The killing is reported as the fifth murder of a title holder in the locality over a period of about two years.
The incident preceding this killing involved the Madakin Garam of Tarangol village, Amos Marit.
The community leader was said to have been followed to his house in Fakkos village and shot by a group of persons yet to be identified.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mathias Tyopev, said that an investigation was being carried out in order to identify the culprits.
“Yes, it happened. Two of the man’s relative came to the Station and reported that around 8.35pm on Sunday, some people broke into his house and he was shot [in] the back and the people ran away.
“The relative took him to a hospital there in Bokkos where he died in the process of receiving treatment.
“The area is peaceful as we speak but [an] investigation is on to ascertain those behind the dastardly act,” Tyopev said.
