PHOTONEWS: Buhari, Obasanjo, Meet At AU Summit
President Muhammadu Buhari and former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday met at the 30th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union(AU) in Addis Ababa Ethiopia.
They met briefly just before the opening ceremony of the session, where they exchanged pleasantries and warm embrace.
It will be recalled that former President Olusegun Obasanjo had on Tuesday, released a special press release titled ´´ The Way out: a clarion call for the coalition for Nigeria movement´´, where he stressed that the President had performed far below expectation and should honourably “dismount from the horse”, by not recontesting the 2019 Presidency.
At the summit, President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to make a presentation on “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation”.
Apart from anti-corruption, other issues lined for consideration by African leaders and their delegations include peace and security (transnational terrorism); institutional reforms of the continental body; free movement of persons; climate change; trade; aviation; education; gender and development.
