Fiorentina Captain, Davide Astori Found Dead In Hotel Room Hours Before Udinese Match
Reports reaching us at Nigeria News confirms the death of Italy national team player, Davide Astori.
Astori, who was in his club side’s travel contingent for an away game at Udinese this evening, was discovered dead early this morning at the La di Moret Hotel in Udine.
The club confirmed the unfortunate incident by releasing a short statement on the official website.
The statement read: “Fiorentina are profoundly shaken and forced to announce that their captain Davide Astori has died
“For this terrible and delicate situation, and above all out of respect for his family, we appeal to the sensitivity of the media.”
As of the time of his death, Astori was the captain of the Fiorentina side having spent over 10 years playing for top-flight clubs in the Italian Serie A before joining Fiorentina in the summer of 2016.
He was also called up 14 times to the Italian Senior National Team on the back of impressive displays for AC Milan, Roma and Cagliari.
In view of the tragic death, the match between Udinese and Fiorentina earlier scheduled for Sunday evening at the Stadio Friuli has been canceled by the Italian League management.
