President Weah Visits President Buhari In Presidential Villa, Abuja
President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari is presently hosting the Liberia president, George Weah in Aso Rock, Abuja.
Reports gathered that Weah, the 25th President of Liberia arrived at 12:34 pm in three motorcades. He was received by President Buhari at the four court of the presidential villa by 12:36 pm.
President Weah who was a senator representing Montserrado Country from 14 January 2015 – 22 January 2018 was also a retired professional footballer and played as a striker during his active playing era.
Weah became involved in politics in Liberia following his retirement from football. He formed the Congress for Democratic Change and ran unsuccessfully for President in the 2005 election, losing to Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in the second round of voting.
The ambitious Weah also ran unsuccessfully as Vice President alongside Winston Tubman in the 2011 election. Weah was subsequently elected to the Liberian Senate for Montserrado County in the 2014 elections.
George Weah defeated the incumbent Vice President Joseph Boakai in the 2017 election and was subsequently sworn in on 22 January 2018 as the Liberian President following his victory in the election.
