PDP Makes Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa Stepdown From Presidential Election Petition Tribual

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP presidential candidate in the 2019 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar do not accept that the President-elect, Mohammadu Buhari should be declared the winner and therefore he charged Buhari to presidential election petition tribunal. The NIGERIA NEWS recently gathered that the President of the Court of Appeal, Zainab Bulkachuwa  stepdown from the presidential election petition tribunal.

The PDP with the back of Atiku Abubakar insinutated that Mrs Bulkachuwa is in an affair with an APC member and for the reason that her husband is also a senatior under the All Progressive Congress, APC party, she was then requested to stepdown. However on Wednesday the tribunal challenge the accuse they brought against Mrs. Bulkachuwa that there is no any prove of the judge being bias.

However, Mrs Bulkachuwa stepdown despite the tribunal support. Mr. Atiku the said on Thursday that his, “legal team’s objection was not a reflection on Justice Bulkachuwa’s character or competence. As a matter of fact, I have great respect for her, being a pioneer and advocate for gender equality and female empowerment,”

Below is Atiku Abubakar Speech On Th Matter Of Presidential Election Petition Tribunal

“One of the principal maxims of the Common Law is nemo judex in causa sua (no man shall be a judge in his own case). The call by my legal team for Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa to recuse herself from the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal was predicated on this principle, is that her husband, Alhaji Mohammed Bulkachuwa, is an All Progressives Congress Senator-elect and the case she was expected to adjudicate upon had a bearing on that party.

“My legal team’s objection was not a reflection on Justice Bulkachuwa’s character or competence. As a matter of fact, I have great respect for her, being a pioneer and advocate for gender equality and female empowerment.

“It is with this in mind that I commend Justice Bulkachuwa for recusing herself from the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal Panel hearing my petition against the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Her action showed courage and is an act of patriotism. She has, by this action, increased the confidence the public have for the judiciary.

“Not only do I commend her, but I also pray, especially in this holy month of Ramadan, that Justice will be done by the tribunal according to the fear of God and not in keeping with respect for the powers that be.

“May God bless the judiciary and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Again, Buhari Blames Former President Over 'Broken Economy'

The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari on Wednesday in Presidential Villa, Abuja gives a speech which reflected a lot about how he still thinks the former president should be blamed for a ‘Broken Economy’. He also states the reason the ministers were left alone for three and a half years to remain in office, NIGERIA NEWS reports.

The NIGERIA NEWS reported that the Democracy day would be shifted to 12th of June, 2019, so that the inauguration day can come up on 29th of May, 2019. As the day of the inauguration is approaching, the day President Mohammadu Buhari would be sworn in for a second tenure, the President gives a statement to address the situation the country has experienced in the past years under the former presidents.

The Presidential statements at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday are as quoted below:

“You will recall that when we started this journey, our country was facing numerous challenges.

“We inherited a broken economy which eventually went into recession in the second quarter of Fiscal Year 2016. The situation was further compounded by insecurity and massive corruption.

“Many would have given up. Indeed, many outside commentators said our situation was well nigh hopeless. However, we all came together and pushed forward to deliver our campaign promise to rescue our country from its parlous state.

“Although we all had a common vision, we frequently had heated debates in this room on the best way to achieve our goals. These differing views are what made the decisions we took all the more rational.

“It is this quality that made me retain my cabinet for the full term. Each of you in this room has a unique skill and strength.

“We are a reflection of Nigeria we aspire to achieve – A diverse but tolerant nation where no one is silenced and where every opinion should be heard and considered.’’

The President further speak, recognizing the impact of the ministers in combating terrorism of Boko Haram rule and in diversification agenda into the sectors the Federal Government for the past years do not care about.

“You should be proud to have been part of the government that liberated the local governments previously under Boko Haram rule.

“You should be proud to have contributed to our food security and economic diversification agenda which led to the revival of our rural agrarian economy

“You should be proud to have been part of the team that developed the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan which led Nigeria exiting its worst recession in decades.

“You should be proud to have introduced the social investment program that enhanced livelihoods of millions of Nigerians.

“You should be proud to have participated in settling outstanding pensions of many senior citizens abandoned by previous governments while supporting state governments to meet their salary arrears.

“And of course, you should all be proud to have overseen the most ambitious road, rail, and airport rehabilitation programs in the history of our country,’’

The president then finally urge the minister to all other government officials to continue to work earnestly as their tenure is extended to 28th of May, 2019, when they would all be tendering there handing over letters to the office of the secretary to the federal government, as he added below:

“Although today is our last council meeting, I expect all of you to continue working until Tuesday, May 28, 2019, when you will officially hand over your schedules to your respective Permanent Secretaries.

“Your handing over letters should be submitted to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,’’
