Police Apprehends Leader Of Notorious Kidnap Group In Delta
Some members of a notorious kidnap group have met with their Waterloo in Delta State after an operation. Eight members of the group were arrested by police in a hotel where they were said to be catching fun after a successful operation they recently carried out.
As gathered by NIGERIA NEWS, this information was revealed by the Delta state’s Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Mustafa.
Among those arrested is a leader of the notorious group who has been previously declared wanted by the Nigeria Police.
Explaining how the suspects were arrested, the commissioner said: “Following the kidnap of Okeme and other kidnap cases within Asaba/Sapele/Warri and environs, a team of the Special Anti Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad, SAKCSS, led by a CSP arrested one Henry George, 31 at Usiefferun Ughelli North local government area of the state.”
Mustafa further revealed that Geroge made a confessional statement on his involvement in the said kidnap as he also disclosed that he has also partaken in other kidnapping acts that have taken place in the Niger Delta region.
In the words of Mustafa: “The suspect on interrogation confessed to being a member of the gang that perpetrated the acts.”
The Commissioner speaking further said, “Based on intelligence, the O/C Anti Kidnapping, received information that a notorious kidnapper, 39-year-old Austin from Emede Ogbolo in Isoko South, who had been on on the wanted list of the Police, was sighted at Ughelli.”
“A team of detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer went in search of the wanted kidnapper. The search yielded fruit as he was arrested at Ughelli Guest House. ”
“The suspect confessed kidnap cases, including the kidnap of one Godwin Etabrita, which occurred October 14, 2016.”
He also revealed that “Police detectives arrested one Donatus, who in the company of others at large, kidnapped Timothy Ikwulono at Infant Jesus, off Anwai Road, Asaba, at about 11.00 pm in front of his house in his Toyota Highlander which was later recovered.”
“Donatus was arrested and is helping police with useful information. On June 24, the victim was released for n undisclosed sum of ransom. Efforts are in place with a view to arresting the suspects.”
