An Igbosere Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos, on Tuesday remanded a labourer, Ashikpa Abdullahi, in prison over attempted burglary.
Abdullahi, 21, who resides along Alaba Rago Bus Stop in Ojo area of Lagos, is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and unlawful breaking into a building.
The accused, however, pleaded guilty to the charge against him.
Following his plea of guilt, the Magistrate, Mrs A. A. Famobiwo, ordered that the accused should be remanded in prison.
Famobiwo adjourned the case until Aug.15 for the review of facts and sentencing.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Solomon Mawary, had told the court that the accused and others still at large committed the offences on Aug. 2 at 2.43p.m at No. 222, Bamgbose St., Lagos Island.
Mawary said that the accused broke into a shop with intent to steal before he was apprehended.
NIGERIA NEWS reports that the prosecutor did not mention the name of the owner of the building the accused allegedly broke into.
Mawary said the offences contravened Sections 411 and 406 (2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
