According to this year’s report of the global Economist Intelligence Unit, EIU, Lagos State has emerged as the third worst city to reside in.
Out of 140 cities that were ranked across countries of the world by the EIU, Lagos State emerged as number 138th.
This information as gathered by NIGERIA NEWS is contained in the 2018 EUI report which gives a 38.5 per cent score to Lagos state.
The report also listed Damascus and Bangladesh’s Dhaka as the worst second and first cities to reside.
Reacting to the report, the Lagos State Governor, Akinwumi Ambode blamed the Federal Government.
According to him, the neglect of the state by the past government contributed to the reason why it emerged as the third worst state to reside in, in the world.
The Governor made this allegation through the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan.
According to Kehinde who was replying to questions on the report via text message, “If you read the report, it stated that the years of neglect and denial by the Federal Government has led to the poor state of infrastructure in Lagos State.”
“The report commended Ambode administration for working tirelessly within three years to improve the level of infrastructure across the state.”
