Lai Mohammed Lauds Bagudu Over Agricultural Strides

Following the promise of the government to eradicate poverty in the country, the Governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Bagudu has promised to deliver bags of rice at the rate of N10,000 to the public.

Bagudu made this known at a dinner in honour of the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed stating that the commodity will be delivered through the Anchor Borrower Programme.

NIGERIA NEWS gathered that Lai Mohammed is on a visit to Kebbi State to assess the agricultural strides of the state.

Recall that about 70,000 farmers were mobilised and 11 billion naira was spent which has yielded global attention to the agricultural feat in the state.

According to the Governor, “two major rice milling factories and so many small and medium scale millers are springing up in the state.”

He added that, “Labana and Walcot rice milling factories had N55 billion demand for paddy.”

Reports also reveal that, “the Dangote group recently visited him and were concluding plans to set up a rice milling factory in the state.”

“The partnership between Kebbi and Lagos states on rice value chain that produced the Lake rice had solved the challenge of glut by providing ready-made market for farmers.”

“The level of investment in the state had proved that agriculture is the easiest sector for diversification.”

Mohammed said the programme aimed at food production, job creation, income generation and self-sufficiency had been a tremendous success the state
