9-Year-Old Tortured For Seven Years By Lawyer

The unlikely occurs as the Police Command of Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Wednesday  paraded a lawyer, by name, Elizabeth Agboje for the alleged torture of a nine-year old, who is her adopted daughter, for over seven years.

The nine-year-old victim, by the name of Bright Maxson, was already being accused of witchcraft before she was eventually reported to have been tortured continuously by  her foster mother, a Lawyer by profession.
 Elizabeth, who is also a mother to two biological children, was reported to have subjected little Bright Maxson to demeaning treatments, not giving taking consideration of the harsh implications or the damage that could have been caused by  the mistreatment of the young girl.

Mr. Ahmed Zaki, the State Commissioner of Police, said that Elizabeth was arrested by the Human Rights Department of the Command for the alleged torture of the the nine-year-old girl.

He said, “The Human Rights Officer of the Command, DSP Emmanuel Ukwenya, arrested one Barrister Elizabeth Agboje, who allgedly had been consistently torturing and assaulting little Miss Bright Maxson, accusing her of being a witch and a thief.”‎

According to Zaki, bringing the act to book would not be very difficult since Elizabeth had made some vital statements.

“The lawyer is a suspect who has made useful statement to the police and as soon as investigation is concluded, she will be charged to court for proper prosecution,” the commissioner said.
