Magu Names People Laundering Money For Terrorists

Fraudsters and bankers have been named as the people responsible for laundering money for terrorists and politicians according to Magu, EFCC, Acting Chairman, he said some “fraudsters in banks are laundering public funds for corrupt politicians and terrorists”.

 

The acting chairman of the commission made this known while attending a securing meeting with banks in Port Harcourts, Rivers State on Friday, 5th of April

He further stated that politician, internet fraudsters popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo and terrorists are being added by these corrupt bankers to the detriment of Nigerian people and the general safety of the country for a little token

“The banks also help the politically exposed persons to steal and launder public funds.

“Money is being laundered and money is being used to fund terrorism in the country. There are more terrorist activities in this country. So, it is a good business for them.

“You will also agree with me that the banks give lifelines to internet fraudsters; the one we call Yahoo boys.

“They (banks) provide market for them through MoneyGram and Western Union that are readily available.

“They throw confidentiality to the wind and subject people’s accounts to a lot of intimidation and extortion.

“So, this is the reason we say we must come here. We have to talk. Unfortunately, we have fraudsters working in the banks; working right inside the banks,” he said.

Rabiu Yadudu Becomes New FAAN Managing Director

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, have gotten a newly appointed Managing Director, Rabiu Yadudu. Following the appointment by President Mohammadu Buhari, the Deputy Director for Press and Public Affairs of the Ministry of Transportation, James Odaudu revealed this on Monday in Abuja, NIGERIA NEWS reports.

The newly appointed Managing Director is preceded by Saleh Dunoma. Mr. Rabiu happened to be an accredited airport pratitioner in Airport Council International, ACI and International Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO. He as well certified in Air Transport Systems, Airport Safety Management Systems and Avionics. Mr. Rabiu is formarly the Director of FAAN before his appointment as the Managing Director.

FG Talks On May 2019 As Public Holidays As Democracy Moves To June 12

The Minister for Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed announced on Monday in Abuja during a world press conference that there would be a public holidays on 29th of May and 12th of June, 2019, NIGERIA NEWS reports

The Minister said that Presidential inauguration is on the track and the press conference set a preparation ground to make the day a remarkable one. The Democracy day would set on the 12th of June as the new democracy day while 29th of May would be the Presidential Inauguration Day.

Lai Mohammed further speaks concerning the two days as follows:

“On the issue of Public Holiday, I believe that 29th May is Public Holiday. Of course June 12, you can see the National Assembly. The National Assembly has also proclaimed it a national holiday.”

“Activities leading to the inauguration of Mr. President officially kick off today with this media conference and will be followed on Tuesday by the commencement of a three-day National Youth Entrepreneurship Empowerment Summit.”
